parts 4081B and 60476 do not work in hinge mode

Postby MilanV » Fri Nov 08, 2013 12:32 pm

Hello,

I tried to fix parts 4081B and 60476 so they start working in the Hinge mode
but I was not successful. Can you help me, please?

My attempts:

lDraw/Conns/4081B.DAT :

Code: Select all

0 SR 3D Builder Connection Patch
C 5 4 2 -20 0 -1 0
C 5 -4 2 -20 0 1 0

lDraw/Conns/60476.DAT :

Code: Select all

0 SR 3D Builder Connection Patch
C 5 0 0 -20 0 -1 0
C 5 0 8 -20 0 1 0

Thank you,

Milan

Hi Milan,
in attach the correct patch for the 60476.DAT
Just copy the attach to the lDraw\Conns folder and use the "rebuild part list" tool to update the cached lists

About the 4081b, it has no hinges. Letting any bar cross the holed studs is a forcing connection with real bricks and that connection is not a hinge.
SR3DBuilder allow that kind of connection, but not the rotation around the axle.

Byes

Sergio

Hi Sergio and thank you for a fast response.

I tested your patch for 60476.DAT and I can confirm it works well.

About 4081b, I understand your argument but I look at this problem from a different point of view:
even the result connection can't be turned "softly" (there is a big friction), it makes very good sence to allow builders to put 4081b to any angle easily and interactively. It's a pain to rotate the part (4081b) separately and use trial-and-error method to, for example, turn it so it (or some attached part) touches a concrete, desired, point (part, corner of part etc.).

For this reason I want to ask you for a help with such turns - how to make them comfortable and interractive? For example, the similar situation is if some brick or plate is attached to one stud only and user wants to turn it precisely and interactively to the exact position (i.e. to touch another part etc.).
