wishlist - future of SR3D

Postby myrddin » Sun Apr 10, 2011 10:04 pm

Downloading SR3D has been the best move, I've ever made even when there are things I'd love to see in the software. The Quality of SR3D's display thanks to the use of Directx is fantastic, it's great seeing a lego model looking almost photoreal within SR3D.

here's what I would like to see in future releases of SR3d (a wishlist)

views and cameras

.viewports (left, right, etc)
.Cameras including a moving 1st person view (idea for ability to explore models built in SR3d from minifig / figure's own perspective. )
. Save view / recall saved view (handy when working within particular areas and want to go back to the view quickly.

Animations

ability to animate 4218A and 4219A with bricks with slots (if possible)
ability to make objects move (trains, monorail, vehicles etc)
Electronic - motors
Pneumatic control / simulation
NXT simulation?>
suspension (technic)
animation allowing "disconnecting" from a connected brick (eg hinged roof on windscreen)

general
background image import
export for raytracing
print a list of parts required to make model in real life
autosave option

Thank You again for what you've been able to do so far.
Regards
Gareth

Hi,

it seems you forget the ability to simulate NXT code programming in robot management !!!!!!!

Well, jokes apart, many of these features are already included in my developing roadmap, but their releases is spanned along a long period of time.

Don't forget that I'm alone in developing the application and most intriguing features requires a lot of work (pneumatics is a huge sample)

Anyway at least the list of needed parts to build the model is available by Instruction Miner by exporting list to Excel File format

Byes

PS: If you really like my application, please don't forget a small donation for supporting my work...

Something I really miss, is a function to search a partnumber through all parts. Now I have to search again in every category.
Could you do a quick fix for that? It makes building so much longer... :(

If I well understand your need, this function is already in the program:
in the search box, type * followed by the part number. It will show you!
for example

*3270
will show you all parts having a part number containing 3270

Hope this help you

Now it works. :) I didn't knew about the *.
Why I have to use that?

It is because the search box can operate in different ways. For example searching for 3270, if you type:

3270 then it search inside every part description for text 3270
-3270 then it search inside every part description of the selected brick type (i.e. technic or bricks or plates...)
*3270 then it search for every part file name containing 3270

that's all folks

I think you need option to rotate part a given angle.

Since you have the "Connection Solver" tools this function is not needed.

Check the manual about the tool
