Limit availability of parts to a small number of sets

Postby posfan12 » Mon Mar 21, 2011 4:21 am

Here's an idea and request following a discussion on another forum:

It would be cool if you could limit the number and selection of parts to only those found in particular Lego sets.

I.e. limit the available parts to those found in set #6987, or two copies of the same set, so that you run out of parts eventually.

Thanks!

a program like this to mis is basically un-ending lego supply...

the consequence of what you propose is that you will have to start buying sets to be able to use the program and build other models...

I think what posfan12 would like to see is an option to limit which parts show up in the parts list in the program, filtered by set number. A kind of temporary limitation on which parts the program will allow you to use.

I can see it being useful for things like recreating or modifying an existing set in SR3D. You would be sure you were using the correct parts, for one.

Whether it's feasible or not is another thing. You'd have to pull set inventories from somewhere as they aren't part of SR3D's database. Limiting parts by color would be another headache.

It's an interesting idea, though.
